Apranik Records is a musical embodiment of the thousands of years of strength and defiance of Iranian women. Founded as a response to the Woman, Life, Freedom movement of the 2022 Iranian revolution, Apranik Records aims to highlight the work of artists whose music embodies the mission of the label: to be strong, to be outspoken, to be bright, and to inspire. Apranik is a collaborative project between Nesa Azadikhah and AIDA.
APR001 VA “WOMAN, LIFE, FREEDOM”
Throughout Iranian history, women have been at the forefront of music and performing arts. However for the past 44 years under the Islamic regime, women in Iran have been banned from singing, dancing, and performance. Facing threats to the safety of themselves and their families, to their career and reputation, female artists are forced to quit, leave Iran, or to go underground facing grave risks. Despite this, Iranian women have remained active and at the forefront of their art, pushing boundaries from Iran and different corners of the world.
Woman, Life Freedom is a collection of original music from Iranian women artists, dedicated to the recent uprising of people, especially the women in Iran who have endured silencing, censorship, and forced control over the past four decades.
The compilation consists of 12 new tracks across electro, breaks, techno, ambient and experimental from Iranian artists including SarrSew, MENTRIX, Sharona Lico and AIDA and Nesa Azadikhah themselves, with many of the tracks either directly addressing or inspired by the current re
The goal of this project is to raise awareness of the international music community about the bravery, talent, and difficulty of female musicians to work under the Islamic Republic’s Regime, as well as the brutal killings of people who have been speaking up since the start of the revolution in September 2022.

APR002 VA “Intended Consequence”
Intended consequences are outcomes that arise from choices we make to do something or be someone despite the risks posed to us. At the moment of choosing, and every moment thereafter, the potential consequences equally living and breathing, exercise our bravery and strength. Intended Consequence is a collection of music dedicated to the choice and continuum of Iranian women’s fight for freedom in the day-to-day.
Despite the risks, women in Iran are choosing to go outside, run errands, and take their children to school without the mandatory hijab. They show their resilience by breaking the rules enforced upon them to wear clothes they don’t want, to behave in ways they don’t agree with, and to live lives they don’t believe in: all of which are values that are reflected in Intended Consequence.
With this collection Apranik present an arsenal of music from some of the Iranian community’s most talented women musicians; musicians who have carved their path with passion and intention despite known consequences.
